5 Steps to Discover Your WHY

soul purpose

Hey Solopreneur, I want to share my favorite topic with you today…

I know you’re a driven and passionate person who is always looking to take your business to the next level. So, I want to talk to you about the importance of discovering your “why” and how it can help you achieve your goals.

What Does Soul Purpose Mean?

Your soul purpose, or your WHY, is the reason you chose to be here on Earth now.

It’s the unique combination of your passions, strengths, and experiences that make you who you are. When you remember your soul purpose, you’ll feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that comes from living a life aligned with your values.

And you will go to sleep each night excited to wake up the next morning and do life all over again. I promise.

Your soul purpose isn’t just about what you do, it’s about who you are, and WHY you do what you do. It’s the reason you get out of bed in the morning, the driving force behind your decisions, and the source of your energy and enthusiasm. Once you remember this, you can start making a plan toward building a life out of it.

I purposely use the word “remember” rather than “discover”. I believe you already know your soul purpose, you knew it when you chose to incarnate as a human being. However, in the process of your human journey, you’ve been given many opportunities to learn new things and some of these lessons may have blocked you from remembering that purpose.

Remembering your WHY is the key to unlocking your true potential. It’s in you, you just have to raise your vibration so that you’re in tune with yourself and your higher consciousness. You CAN live the life you’ve always dreamed of, and it’s not too late to start.

Does Everyone Have a Soul Purpose?

Absolutely! Everyone has a soul purpose, whether they realize it or not. It’s part of what makes us human. However, not everyone takes the time to re-discover their soul purpose or has the courage to pursue it. Even less people take action and turn their dream into reality.

For me, personally, I found that when my kids were grown and on their own, my purpose had changed. In fact, I actually experienced an overnight transformation, where I woke up one morning realizing that I could no longer live my life the way I had been living it. Because up to that point, my purpose was my children.

But, as they “flew the nest”, I began to question what was important to me. Up to that point, making money was important so that I could provide their needs. But, once I could see that they were independent and no longer needed me, I questioned what I wanted for myself.

I began to feel stuck in my job because it didn’t align with my soul purpose. I wasn’t excited about the goals of the company that I worked for at the time. I felt unfulfilled and disconnected from my work, and when something more meaningful came along I decided to make a change. I realized that my values were not in alignment with my work: I wanted to have fun doing what I was doing AND make a profound difference in the lives of others.

Maybe you can relate. Maybe you feel stuck. I’ve got a secret: you are NOT stuck! This is actually a HUGE opportunity tugging on your heart to make a change in your life.

If you’re feeling like this, don’t worry! It’s never too late to start re-discovering your soul purpose and making changes to align your life with it. And – Contrary to what you may have been told (or told yourself), you CAN make money doing what you love. It’s just a matter of taking that first step.

What is My Soul Purpose?

Now, let’s get to the good stuff! Here are 5 steps to help you discover YOUR soul purpose:

  1. Reflect on your passions and interests. What do you love to do? What makes you feel alive? What topics or activities do you find yourself drawn to? Make a list of your passions and interests, and think about how you can incorporate them into your work or daily life.
  2. Identify your strengths. What are you good at? What do people come to you for advice on? What skills do you enjoy using? Identifying your strengths can help you find work that is both fulfilling and rewarding.
  3. Consider your values. Super important! What is most meaningful to you? What do you stand for? What do you want to contribute to the world? Understanding your values can help you find work that aligns with your beliefs and passions.
  4. Look for patterns in your life. What recurring themes or experiences have you had? Are there any moments in your life that stand out as particularly meaningful or significant? Looking for patterns in your life can help you identify your purpose.
  5. Take action. Once you’ve identified your passions, strengths, values, and patterns, it’s time to take action! Start making changes in your life that align with your soul purpose. This could mean changing careers, starting a side hustle, taking a course, or simply incorporating more of your passions and values into your daily life.

There’s an inspirational, best selling book by Simon Sinek called, Start With Why that spurred me on years ago. This book is so powerful it is credited with starting a movement where people began to realize how important purpose is to their lives. I was one of them. Simon is quoted saying, “Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.” I couldn’t agree more.

Remember, re-discovering your soul purpose is a journey, not a destination. It may take time, effort, and experimentation to find work that aligns with your purpose. But the rewards are well worth it. When you’re living a life aligned with your soul purpose, you’ll feel fulfilled, happy, and energized.

I’m so passionate about this topic, I actually created an online program called Mission Possible to help people re-discover, and re-invent themselves. I share the exact same process I went through over a decade to create Soulopreneur. These series of exercises take you in the “back door” of your mind so that you can uncover those areas in your life that seem to have been forgotten. This is where purpose lies dormant.

So, Soulopreneur, I challenge you to take the first step today. Start reflecting on your passions, strengths, and values, and see where it takes you. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes you!
