Create Your Dreams: Why the Law of Attraction is Outdated

Listen up, Lightworker…

Are you ready to tap into the law of creation and unleash your full potential as a spiritual business owner? Of course, you are.

Before we dive in together, notice how I said “law of creation.” This is really important so take note of creation vs. attraction.

What I’ve discovered, and I’ll explain why in a minute, is that the law of creation is the powerful force that can help you manifest your dreams and achieve your goals. It is the nitty-gritty of how to apply the so-called law of attraction in your business and why you should ditch the belief that you somehow attract rather than actually create in the moment.

Law of Attraction vs. Law of Creation

One of the key differences between the two approaches is that the law of attraction focuses primarily on thoughts and feelings, whereas the law of creation emphasizes both thoughts and actions. With the law of creation, we take inspired action toward our goals and actively create the reality we want to see.

I will give you an example in just a moment…

Another amazing benefit of the law of creation is that it encourages us to take responsibility for our creations, rather than simply waiting for them to manifest. By taking ownership of our actions and beliefs, we become more powerful creators.

As Jack Canfield says, in his book Success Principles, “If you want to create the life of your dreams, then you are going to have to take 100% responsibility for your life as well. That means giving up all your excuses, all your victim stories, all the reasons why you can’t and why you haven’t up until now, and all your blaming of outside circumstances. You have to give them all up forever.”

The law of creation also acknowledges that we are somehow co-creators with the universe and that we have the power to shape our reality through our thoughts and actions. By aligning our intentions with our soul’s purpose, we can create a life and business that are not only successful but also deeply fulfilling and meaningful.

This is an easy concept when all is going well in our world. But what about the mucky stuff? What about those situations that are unpleasant, uneasy, and uncomfortable? It’s easy to point to those times and feel that somehow they “happened to you.”

Jack goes on to say, “If something doesn’t turn out as planned, you will ask yourself, “How did I create that? What was I thinking? What were my beliefs? What did I say or not say? What did I do or not do to create that result? How did I get the other person to act that way? What do I need to do differently next time to get the result I want?”

In fact, it is during these times that you didn’t get the results that you wanted that you can learn the most and propel your dreams forward the fastest. I did a Spiritual Happy Hour talk called “The Issue is Not the Issue,” about this exact topic because it was when I realized that I was NOT a victim of my circumstances but instead was GRATEFUL for every single thing that happened in my life – yes, even the horrible, icky, mucky stuff, that my life because amazing, abundant, and fun.

I like to say, “The issue is not the issue, it’s that you THINK it’s the issue, that’s the issue.” The truth is it’s all about how you are THINKING about something that causes you to feel a certain way and it’s that FEELING that creates in the moment what it is you desire. Here’s the tricky part… you may think you don’t desire some of that icky stuff. But, the Universe doesn’t judge good or bad, amazing or icky. Your mind is the judge of the situation.

If you can see a so-called situation as good in some way, you can flip a bad situation into a good one even after it has already happened. Whoa! Right?!? You can literally change your past.

I promised to give you an example of how this appeared in my life so here goes! Several decades ago, I had a falling out over a family business situation with my brother and my Dad. It caused me to not speak to anyone in my family for nearly twelve years. It wasn’t until my father was on his deathbed that I began to make peace with the situation.

I was the victim of their plan to take advantage of the ownership of a very fast-growing business that I had 100% interest in. Yet, I wasn’t really involved. I started the business and handed it over to my brother and then focused my attention on other business ventures. The situation had escalated so badly that I contacted an attorney to sue them and when he told me that, “family business fall-outs’ are the worst kind of lawsuits that he ever deals with I backed off all communication with my family and chose to just stew about it.

In other words, I did nothing.

I made a lot of assumptions about what was happening. I took it all terribly personally. I had not done my best to be a “partner” with my brother and Dad. Finally, I wasn’t impeccable with my words. The Four Agreements, according to Don Miguel Ruiz. I have chosen to not only live my life by these agreements but my businesses are run by these agreements, too. That’s a topic for another time.

Any single one of The Four Agreements when not abided by can throw your personal life as well as your business into a whirlwind. They will create things that you most likely do not desire because they create a FEELING in the situation or relationship that your mind judges as “not good” and begins to feel accordingly.

How do you avoid this? By changing your thoughts about how you FEEL about the situation.

In my case, decades later, while my Dad was on his deathbed, I began to choose to see that original-business-falling-out as a blessing. I could look around and see that my brother had done an amazing job with that business that we had started together. I could see because of his business skills he had created an organization that provided jobs for thousands of people, including many of my family members and it took care of my parents.

To this day, it still takes care of my mother.

Prior to this realization, I was jealous that they all benefited from this business that I had begun and that I did not. That was just silly. I had made a decision along the way to go a different direction and I had created benefits in my life in other ways. But, instead I had focused on the negative and it was showing up in my life. I had major trust issues afraid that the next business partner would do the same thing – and guess what? They did.

It was when I became grateful for the learning of being a better communicator, of living by The Four Agreements in my business as well as my personal life, that my business(es) began to thrive. I didn’t attract this… I actively created it. I chose to have a better life and I watched it unfold in front of my very eyes.

I like to think of the law of creation as a more holistic and powerful approach to manifesting abundance and success in our businesses. We can create a reality that truly reflects our highest potential as I did in the example above because the truth is that the business my brother created was not something that I enjoyed. The truth is that I ended up creating a business that I absolutely loved, apart from that old family business.

Today, I’ve made peace with my brother and he is one of my greatest mentors as he turned that little business into a billion dollar organization. I’m very proud of what I started and he took to the next lever and we respect one another for this action.

Why You Should Ditch The Law of Attraction

One of the main reasons to ditch the law of attraction is that it can sometimes lead to a focus on material possessions and external validation, rather than true fulfillment and happiness. By constantly striving to attract more money, success, or status, we may overlook the deeper needs and desires of our souls.

Another issue with the law of attraction is that it can create a sense of pressure or anxiety around manifesting our desires. When we focus too much on the end result, we may neglect the importance of the journey and the lessons we learn along the way.

Finally, the law of attraction can sometimes lead to a sense of passivity or complacency, as we wait for our desires to manifest without taking proactive steps to make them a reality. This can be disempowering and may actually hinder our progress toward our goals.

By embracing the law of creation and taking inspired action toward our goals, we can overcome these deficits and unlock our full potential as spiritual entrepreneurs. With a focus on aligning with our soul’s purpose, intention setting, and taking proactive steps toward success, we can create a business that is not only abundant but also deeply fulfilling and meaningful.

The Law of Creation

The law of creation is based on the idea that we create our own reality through our thoughts and beliefs.

In other words: what we focus on E X P A N D S.

So, if you want to create a successful spiritual business, you need to focus on success and abundance, rather than lack and limitation.

Now, this may sound like a bunch of woo-woo nonsense, but there’s actually a lot of scientific evidence to support the idea that our thoughts and beliefs can shape our reality. Studies have shown that people who visualize success and abundance are more likely to achieve their goals than those who focus on failure and scarcity.

So, how can you apply the law of creation to your spiritual business? Here are a few tips:

  1. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want. Instead of worrying about all the things that could go wrong in your business, focus on your vision for success. Visualize yourself serving your clients, making a positive impact in the world, and achieving your financial goals.
  1. Be mindful of your thoughts and beliefs. Pay attention to the messages you’re sending yourself about your business. Are you telling yourself that you’re not good enough, that you’ll never succeed, or that there’s too much competition? If so, it’s time to reframe those beliefs and start telling yourself a more positive story.
  1. Take inspired action. The law of creation isn’t just about positive thinking – it’s also about taking action towards your goals. But here’s the key: the action you take should feel inspired and aligned with your vision. Don’t just do things because you think you “should” or because someone else is doing them. Trust your intuition and take action from a place of alignment.
  1. Trust the universe. Finally, remember that you’re not in this alone. The universe is conspiring to support you and help you achieve your goals. Trust that everything is working out for your highest good, even if you can’t see the bigger picture right now.

So, Soulopreneur, are you ready to tap into the law of creation and create a thriving spiritual business? I have no doubt that you can do it! Just remember to focus on your vision, be mindful of your thoughts and beliefs, take inspired action, and trust the universe.
